Our Speaker will be Christopher Muller discussing Enhanced Air Cleaning to Integrate IAQ and Energy Conservation
Christopher Muller is a globally recognized authority on indoor and environmental air quality, with a particular focus on gas-phase air filtration, corrosion control, and the reliability of electronic equipment. He has extensively contributed to the field through over 175 articles, peer-reviewed papers, seminars, and eight handbooks. His work includes significant contributions to several key handbooks and chapters on contamination control, air filtration, and airborne molecular contamination, particularly within the ASHRAE Datacom Series Handbook and other industry-standard texts. Additionally, he has testified before the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on proposed indoor air quality standards and has been instrumental in advising the development of governmental standards in multiple countries.
Christopher Muller is an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer and has been actively involved in various ASHRAE committees, co-authoring key guidelines and documents such as the ASHRAE Position Document on Filtration and Air Cleaning. He has chaired the International Society of Automation's committee on environmental conditions and contributed to the International Roadmap for Devices and Systems. His professional involvement extends to multiple prestigious organizations, including the International Standards Organization, the Institute of Environmental Sciences, and the American Society for Testing and Materials. He holds a B.S. in Applied Biology from Georgia Tech and has completed postgraduate work in Industrial Engineering.
This presentation will discuss the IAQ Procedure and current work being done to make this a more relevant design option when using ASHRAE Standard 62.1. Examples of the application of enhanced filtration as a replacement for ventilation air in locations with significant ambient air pollution and the resulting energy savings will be provided.
